Want to know why I’m doing a happy dance today? Sure you do! Well, this past June I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. It’s a mini-conference for bloggers and social media influencers to get together, meet new friends, and learn from blogging and social media experts. They also give away some great prizes and goodie bags-all for free! If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll remember I was doing a happy dance back then too.
Disney Parks sends out monthly e-newsletters telling about upcoming events and exciting changes at the Disney parks. At the very end of these newsletters is usually a shout-out to a couple bloggers and moms from the Disney Moms Panel.
The point I’m getting at is, I really wanted to be recognized at the end of one of these newsletters. I don’t know why, I just thought it would be really neat if the Disney folks were like, “Hey, Nikki, we really liked what you had on your blog!” Also, I’ve been wanting to do more DIY posts so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to blend some Disney in with my own creative genius experimentation.
I brainstormed some things I could make that would be useful for Thanksgiving and came up with this Thanksgiving kids table decor idea. I put it together, wrote it up in a post, and submitted it to the Disney Social Media Moms’ newsletter.
Sure enough, myself and one other blogger were featured at the very bottom of the latest newsletter!
That’s me in the spotlight!!!
HAPPY DANCE!
Did this shout-out increase my traffic any? No.
Will I make any money off of it? No.
Does Disney give you any free stuff for participating in their newsletter? No.
I know what you’re thinking: So Nikki, what’s the big deal?
I’m doing a happy dance because I really appreciated the recognition! I’m also super excited that a project I put a lot of effort into ended up turning out the way I wanted. Who knows? There may be more Disney- Inspired posts to appear on this blog in the future…
So now I want to know: why are you doing a happy dance? If you’ve got a story of joy and triumph I know others would want to hear about it! Be sure to include a link-we’d love to check it out!
